“It’s a great idea, but our quality checks have uncovered some issues,” said Amelia Tenderfoot, Director of Product Testing for Armitrite Corporation. She was announcing the field-test results for the company’s newest gun-safety measure, Quiz-Lock™ at the firm’s annual stockholder meeting.

Quiz-Lock™ is intended to solve an age-old problem: how to prevent firearm use by children and lunatics, but keep the weapon functional for law-abiding citizens?

Armitrite hopes they have the answer. Quiz-Lock™ is a device that — like any trigger lock — will render a firearm unusable. The difference is, instead of being unlocked by number combination dials or a key, Quiz-Lock™ uses a voice assistant. The assistant asks one of a thousand randomized basic questions about the U.S. Constitution. Users must answer the question correctly for the firearm to unlock.

“Our goal was simple,” explained Tenderfoot. “To prevent weapon use by people who don’t understand basic civics. Our reasoning was that children and criminals wouldn’t know much about the Constitution and standard law, and most legal firearms owners would. Unfortunately, our tests often revealed the opposite.”
